Magento eCommerce – Root Category
Deleting or changing the root category can disable the main horizontal menu in a Magento eCommerce website. To correct this create a ‘root category’, then go to System>Manage Stores>Main Website Store. Then select your ‘Root Category’ from the Root Category dropdown menu.
